OK well I've been working on the album a little here and there. I've come up with a working title of "Sound Mirrors". In conjuction with the project I needed to pick up a drum machine so I've picked up an Alesis SR16 drum maching from ebay to add to the studio, no not for the drum sounds but for the pattern creation portion SR16. There is no doubt that the SR16 is a rock solid drum machine and has appeared on many albums. But I have in the studio an Roland R8m with a ton of cards and a Yamaha RM50. So I'm creating drum maps to work with the Alesis. Also I picked up a Korg MS2000R, I had a to wait a bit before I could use the Korg due to it being shipped with the improper power supply. The Korg runs on 9 volts negative center pin, I has recieved a 12 volt negative center pin and after checking with Korg they said that not to use it. I may modify the unit to work with the 12 volt unit if gives a better singal to noise ratio. But after getting the proper supply from Sweetwater sound I had the chance to play with the Korg, let me tell you the Korg MS2000R is an awesome box, yeah I know it's not a "REAL" analog synth, but none the less it is a very fun tool to play with. So I'm sure I'll be using it on some of the new tracks. Keep an eye out for my new tracks which will be coming soon. Seeya Mark |

Well my JP-8080 arrived yesterday and I was like a kid a candy store, I couldn't wait to get that thing in the studio and when I did... WOW! I've got to officially set it up with a MIDI Channel and Mixer input but I was having fun with it just sitting on the desk.. I know some of you guys have written me telling me about your JP-8080's want to trade patches? On another note (sorry bad pun) I also found a Korg MS2000R in MINT condition. That should get here soon as well. I know the Korg has it's querks as well but I've wanted one since they were released. I used to own an MS20 and MS10 that I sold years ago. I loved the MS20 and this seems to be alot along the lines of that synth. (minus the patch panel). Well now I've really got to get the studio in top performance.. I can't wait to see what music is in these boxes just waiting to get out.. Stay tuned for more. Seeya Mark |

New Equipment for the Studio |

OK call me out of it, but I was totally amazed at the Roland JP-8080. There is a video on You Tube that sold me on this VA type synth. The more I read online the more I wanted one. I've been playing a little with software based synths but system stability is still an issue in many cases. So here I am just now discovering this awesome 6 space rack monster. The JP-8080 is one of the coolest synths I think Roland ever made and judging by their resale value most electronic musicians agree. Yeah it's got a few querks but that's what you have MIDI for.. Now all I need to get my hands on is a Korg MS2000R... Anyone wish to donate to the cause? Seeya Mark |

I've started work on a new project, I'm also having to purge some of my gear to make room for some new of the new gear. One of the units I really would love to get my hands on is the Korg Radius. This thing is totally awesome. I'd also love to get my hands on a Korg MS2000r and A Korg TR Rack. The new project will be an ambient/space music project. I hope to have some demo tracks up soon Seeya Mark aka SynthmusicianAdmin |

Well over the last week or so I've been doing some upgrades on the studio. In the process I started testing out some of the new gear I installed, I have been very happy with the results of the tests. As a result, one of the by product of all that testing is I should have a new song to upload here soon for you all to give a listen too. Hope you enjoy it. See Ya MC |

Studio Updates |
| Mark Cox (01/26/08 00:45:08) Tag: default |
| Well the studio is going to be down for a couple of days while I add some new midi lines and equipment. I bought myself a TX81Z for Christmas. Ya know I think ever studio should have one. And my newest module is a Emu e64 Sampler that I bought for my birthday. Yeah it's old school but nothing sounds like it either. So watch for some new songs soon. |

When I was writing music for the shows I worked on it was always my goal to create songs that could stand without the video. I've posted a few here on this site. I also run another website at http://www.thesynergystudios.com that goes into more of the tech stuff of being an electronic musician so please go and see some of my rantings there if your interested. Thanks for stopping by and don't forget to sign my guest book. Seeya MC |
